Our Hosts

Cenk Baban
A tea lover all his life, Cenk discovered a new way to appreciate tea in Bali a few years ago. Since then he has been a student of tea, learning from the Global Tea Hut in Taiwan. In 2024, he attended a silent 10-day tea retreat in Europe to immerse himself deeper in the study of Tea, Zen and Qigong. The Four Virtues of Tea inspire him: harmony, respect, purity and tranquillity. His passion is to create experiences that have tea in the centre. His tea ceremony is your invitation to stillness and a deeper inward journey.
Lulu Taylor
Lulu is a student of Cha Dao, the Way of Tea, as taught through Global Tea Hut, steeped in the ancient Chinese tradition of meeting tea as medicine and as a path of self-cultivation. As steward of Sydney Tea Hut, the sole Global Tea Hut space in Australia, she primarily offers bowl tea ceremony as a gateway to meditation and communion with the self, nature and others, and educational workshops holding space for receptivity, connection, contemplation and the tender art of turning inward.

Matt Tran
Matt is the co-founder of Tea Angle, a Sydney-based tea business whose purpose is to make high quality Chinese tea accessible and available to everyone, everywhere. Tea Angle works directly with farmers and producers in rural China to bring high quality, pure teas to tea lovers the world over. We learn about and sample as many teas as we possibly can to ensure that the teas you get are interesting, unique and a true reflection of their place of origin.
Po-Tien
Po-Tien is an accidental corporate, a clumsy Buddhist, a constant student and an accredited meditation teacher with the Australian Centre for Meditation and Mindfulness. She was born in Malaysia; Australia has been her home since 1987. She honours her heritage through humble tea meditations using the method of Gongfu Cha brewing: allowing tea to connect to the five senses, to Nature, to Self and Community.

Robert Davies
Uncle Rob has been studying and practising Japanese tea ceremony using the Urasenke method for more than 20 years and has recently started teaching.
Cathy Zhang
Cathy has a Bachelor in Tea Science from South China Agricultural University and a national qualification as a professional tea ceremony artist. Her passion for tea stems from its place in world history as well as its ability to connect people in shared moments. She runs Ms Cattea Tea Bar in Potts Point.

Lucie Vanova
Lucie Vaňová is the founder of Tea in Season. Tea in Season is a Sydney-based tea company dedicated to offering premium, seasonally sourced teas and botanicals from Japan, India, Taiwan, and Australia. With a focus on these four regions, we curate a distinctive selection that highlights the unique flavours, aromas, and cultural traditions of each origin.
